about brian zegeer

Brian Zegeer is a mixed-media artist and animator who creates sculptures and animations that reimagine the relationship between humans and their lived environments. His work combines printed photographs and found objects into sculptures aimed at capturing the psychological resonance that charges a room and the history locked in NYC geography.
His animations document the sculpting process using stop-motion animation techniques, exploring a range of compositing methods to give shape to the invisible forces that charge our environments. Zegeer holds an MFA from University of Pennsylvania (2005) and attended the prestigious Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2010).
Currently serving as Assistant Professor at both Marymount Manhattan College and LaGuardia Community College, Zegeer has exhibited extensively including at the Queens Museum, Bronx Museum of Art, and various galleries throughout NYC. His work has been featured in Hyperallergic, Artforum, and Artnet.
